Reaseheath College Local Development Order

In March 2015 the Council secured £50,000 funding from DEFRA to become a pathfinder authority to assist Cheshire East Council in preparing a Local Development Order to facilitate ‘Food and Farming’ uses a the Reaseheath College site.

Local Development Orders are ordinarily made by Local Planning Authorities and give a grant of planning permission to specific types of development within a defined area.  They streamline the planning process by removing the need for developers to make a planning application to a Local Planning Authority.  The primary function of a Local Development Order is to accelerate delivery of much needed development.  In this case in line with the continued development and expansion of Reaseheath College and continued support by Cheshire East Council of this facility.

The Council has carried out the necessary Pre-Consultation with stakeholders and landowners in order to establish support and to compile the evidence required for the Local Development Order.  There had been a number of meetings with internal Cheshire East Council colleagues to assist in the shaping this process and to ensure that the Local Development Order is both transparent and robust, as well as, above all entirely fit for purpose for both Cheshire East Council and Reaseheath College.

Now that these stages in the Local Development Order process have been completed, the Council is seeking to begin the process of Formal Consultation to move closer to adoption during autumn 2016.
