As the Sydney Area Residents Association we represent local residents who feel they are taking their lives into their own hands attempting to cross Sydney Road, especially near Herbert Street, due to the volume and speed of the traffic. There are no Crossing provisions in this area, and the bus stops facilitate all the local school buses as well as the local service.
Everyone is fearing for the first fatality as near misses with pedestrians are common along Sydney Road where it is regularly used from the turning for Landowne Road to the cut through for Rochester Crecent.
Planning permission for over 1200 houses has been approved along Sydney Road which will create extra traffic where it is already reported to have over 190 vehicle movements an hour.
Also whilst travelling at 30MPH in their cars residents regularly report being overtaken by vehicles as there is no clear signage along the road.
We require Cheshire East Council to provide at least a Zebra Crossing, preferably a Pelican Crossing by the bus stops near to Herbert Street and 30 MPH signs from the top of Sydney Road, as traffic exits Crewe Green Roundabout, along to Remer Street.
This is needed due to the excessive traffic now using Sydney Road and the speed traffic is travelling.
Before any more planning permission is approved for new housing in this area these issues need to be resolved.
