Campaign to stop the axing of local bus routes
#CreweFirst is asking local residents to support their campaign to
stop the axing of several bus routes that will effect Crewe and the
surrounding areas.
Cllr. Brian Silvester said,
"Most people who use these routes have no alternative forms of
transport and cannot afford a taxi or a Uber. These bus services
are vital to many. It is outrageous that the Tory Government have
refused any financial help.
Government expenditure per person on transport in London is more
than TWICE as much as the North West.
Tory Government talks about levelling up, when in reality they are
levelling down and areas like the North West are losing out on
services that people in London take for granted."
Arriva North West is consulting on closing depots.
Move would see operator no longer delivering services in Winsford,
Northwich, Crewe and Macclesfield.
Routes that will no longer operate :-
84 Crewe - Nantwich/Chester
6 Leighton Hospital - Shavington
31 Northwich - Winsford - Crewe
37 Northwich - Winsford - Sandbach - Crewe
38 Crewe - Macclesfield
3 Macclesfield - Weston
