No more asylum seekers in Crewe. We've had enough..

We the undersigned petition the council to To tell the Conservative Government that Crewe can't take any more asylum seekers. To tell the Home Office they should stop using Crewe as a dumping ground for asylum seekers. To ask the Government to remove the several hundred asylum seekers, currently housed in Crewe, as soon as possible.

For over a year now asylum seekers have been accommodated in three Crewe hotels, and in other locations around the town.
Local public services are under extreme unprecedented pressure. There are record waiting times for operations and at A&E, at Leighton Hospital, record life threatening waits for an ambulance to attend to a health emergency, it is extremely difficult to get an appointment to see a GP and near impossible to find a NHS dentist in Crewe. Then on top of that, there are the ongoing strikes in public services like the NHS. Local public services are in a state of crisis and the town simply can't take any more.
Specialist health services and local charities in the town are already struggling to support and manage the demand from the asylum seekers who are already here.

Also there are 2,375 on the housing waiting list in Crewe.
It is wrong that those who attempt to enter our country illegally should be given priority, over local Crewe residents, for local housing in Crewe. Many of those on the housing waiting list were born in the town and have been on the housing waiting list for many years.

We are calling on Cheshire East and the local MP to contact the Government urgently to insist that no more asylum seekers come to Crewe and that the several hundred who are already here are moved out as soon as possible.
