Allocation of Community Grants pdf icon PDF 105 KB

To consider the allocation of grants to community and voluntary organisations.

Decision:

That approval be given for the Community Grants listed to be awarded, declined or deferred as indicated.

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Communities considered a report on the allocation of community grants.

Cheshire East Council had received various applications for community grants to be considered in line with the Council’s Policy for the Allocation of Community Grants. Each grant application was outlined in the report, as was the reason for the recommendation in respect of that application.

At the meeting, the officers reported that Holmes Chapel Partnership required funding for their project which focussed on the bond between grandparents and grandchildren, and improving their heart health. The Partnership had received contributions from other sources and it was recommended that a grant of £1,000 be awarded. In addition, Tatton Singers were celebrating their 40th season and required funding to hire an orchestra for their upcoming concert. The choir would receive income from ticket and programme sales as well as donations. It was recommended that a grant of £300 be awarded subject to conditions.

With the additional grant applications reported at the meeting, the total amount to be awarded in this round was £42,089. All of the proposed grants could be funded from within existing budgets approved as part of the Council’s Budget for 2015/16.
