Land adjacent to Davenport Golf Club, Poynton pdf icon PDF 33 KB

To consider the lease of land adjacent to Davenport Golf Club to the Trustees of the Club.

Additional documents:

Decision:

To agree to the grant of a lease of land adjacent to Davenport Golf Club to the Trustees of Davenport Golf Club, Poynton on terms and conditions to be determined by the Director of Economic Growth and Prosperity or any officer she may nominate.

Minutes:

The Portfolio Holder considered the grant a new lease for a term of 21 years, with 3 year rent reviews, of an area of land adjacent to Davenport Golf Club to the Trustees of Davenport Golf Club, Poynton.  The trustees of the Club had a statutory right to renew the existing lease as they had security of tenure under the Landlord and Tenant act 1954.  The land was owned by Cheshire East Council and currently let to the Club by way of a lease, and it was used as part of their Championship Golf Course and as a practice area.

It was reported that the land in question had also been formally requested for transfer by Poynton Town Council as part of the second phase of the Local Service Delivery Transfer and Devolutions to Town and Parish Councils process and that the Council was currently considering its position with regard to this request.  The adjacent land was also owned by Cheshire East Council and Poynton Town Council had requested that this piece of land should also be transferred to enable it to develop the land for a community use/benefit.  It was noted that Poynton Town Councils intention was to use the income derived from the land subject to this report to help them develop the adjacent area for a community use/benefit.

The Portfolio Holder confirmed that he was happy to make this decision and noted that the Local Ward Councillors had been consulted and that their views had been taken into account in the report.

RESOLVED

That approval be given to the grant of a lease of land adjacent to Davenport Golf Club to the Trustees of Davenport Golf Club, Poynton, on terms and conditions to be determined by the Director of Economic Growth and Prosperity or any officer she may nominate.
