Declarations of Interest

To provide an opportunity for Members and Officers to declare any personal and/or prejudicial interests in any item on the agenda

Minutes:

Councillor D Flude declared a personal interest as she was a retired member of Unison.

 

Councillor J Jackson declared a personal interest as she was a member of GMB.

Public Speaking Time/Open Session

In accordance with Procedure Rules Nos.11 and 35 a total period of 10 minutes is allocated for members of the public to address the Committee on any matter relevant to the work of the Committee.

 

Individual members of the public may speak for up to 5 minutes but the Chairman will decide how the period of time allocated for public speaking will be apportioned where there are a number of speakers.

 

Members of the public wishing to ask a question at the meeting should provide at least three clear working days’ notice in writing and should include the question with that notice. This will enable an informed answer to be given.  It is not required to give notice of the intention to make use of public speaking provision, however, as a matter of courtesy, a period of 24 hours notice is encouraged.

The Committee considered a report on the Pay Policy Statement for 2012-13.

 

The Council was required under section 38/11 of the Localism Act 2011 to produce a Pay Policy Statement for 2012-13 by 31 March 2012 and for each financial year thereafter.

 

The Pay Policy Statement set out the Council’s policies for the financial year relating to:

  • The level and elements of remuneration for each Chief Officer
  • Remuneration of Chief Officers on recruitment
  • Increases and additions to remuneration for each Chief Officer
  • The use of performance related pay for Chief Officers    
  • The use of bonuses for Chief Officers
  • The remuneration of the lowest paid employees
  • The relationship between Chief Officers remuneration and that of other Officers
  • The approach to the payment of Chief Officers on their ceasing to hold office under or to be employed by the Authority, and
  • The publication and access to information relating to remuneration of Chief Officers

 

RESOLVED:

 

That Council be recommended to approve the Pay Policy Statement for 2012-13.
