Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Prosperity and Economic Regeneration considered a report on the rent for land leased to the Trustees of Bollington Leisure Centre (TBLC).

The land owned by Cheshire East Council was currently leased via three separate ground leases to the TBLC, who had constructed a building and car park on the land and operated it as a Leisure Centre which provided sports facilities including a swimming pool, squash courts, fitness suite, health spa and soft play area.

The Council had agreed terms for a new lease (which encompassed all the land let to the Trustees under the three existing leases), the surrender of the three existing leases contemporaneously with the completion of the new lease and a supplemental agreement between Cheshire East Council, the TBLC and Competition Line (UK) Limited which related to the Sports Centre Development Agreement between the TBLC and Competition Line (UK) Limited.

The Cabinet Member was asked to determine the rent payable in connection with the new Ground Lease and also agree to the new lease terminating on the same date as the TBLC’s agreement with Competition Line in respect of development works to their building and the provision of supply and equipment to TBLC.

Councillors B Livesley and K Edwards attended the meeting and, at the invitation of the Portfolio Holder, spoke in support of Option 2 for the Ground Lease between Cheshire East Council and TBLC.
