Decision:

That the approval be given to the publication of the Home Energy Conservation Act Further Report.

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Prosperity and Economic Regeneration considered a report prepared in accordance with guidance issued by the Secretary of State in July 2012, setting out the measures the authority considered practicable, cost effective and likely to result in significant improvement in the energy efficiency of residential accommodation in its area.

Reports pursuant to the Home Energy Conservation Act 1995 had previously been prepared by Cheshire East’s predecessor authorities, the last having been required by the Secretary of State for the period 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2008.  The Act recognised the ability of local authorities to use their position to improve the energy efficiency of all residential accommodation in their area.

The report now being considered was a statement of the Council’s existing plans to improve energy efficiency as approved by the Sustainable Communities Strategy and the Housing Strategy, as well as opportunities to address energy efficiency through the emerging local plan.  The report set out eight commitments together with actions to deliver them and the key outcomes of the plan.

RESOLVED

That the approval be given to the publication of the Home Energy Conservation Act Further Report.
