Officer Delegated Decision: Macclesfield Market Refurbishment Project Variation of the Existing Construction Contract

Decision Maker: Director of Growth and Enterprise

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The Economy and Growth Committee at its meeting on 12 March 2024 considered a report on the Macclesfield Indoor Market Refurbishment and resolved that the Committee authorise the Head of Economic Development to select and enter into a contract with a provider to deliver refurbishment works to Macclesfield Indoor Market, noting the value of the contract will exceed £1,000,000.

The Corporate Policy Committee at its meeting on 6 February 2025 considered a report on the UK Shared Prosperity Fund Transition Year 25/26 and approved the allocation of a further £500,000 of UK Shared Prosperity Fund for the continuation of the Macclesfield Market Refurbishment Project and that such allocations to be embedded into the MTFS. This was to cover any overrun of the initial project into 25/26 which could not be funded in 24/25 and to cover additional items, largely those which had to be scoped out of the project previously as part of value engineering.

Decision:

      i.         To issue a Work Package Instruction to CEC Assets, requesting the continued project management of the Macclesfield Market Refurbishment Project and the variation of the existing construction contract with F Parkinson, entered into on 18th October 2024, for the delivery of additional construction services up to a maximum additional value of £430,000.

ii.         To draw down funding from the budget approved for this project for those contracted construction works.
