This decision is to extend parking charges in council[1]operated car parks, to include evenings (until 10pm) and Sundays. This approach to Sunday and Evening charges is in accordance with the options agreed at Highways Committee (January 2024); as follows:
A) Extension of the period of charged (Pay & Display) parking to 10pm on Mondays to Saturdays. This will change the end of the charged period in our car parks from 6pm to 10pm, extending the duration of the charged period from 10 hours (8am to 6pm) to 14 hours (8am to 10pm) daily.
B) Introduction of parking charges on Sundays, by extending weekday (Monday-Saturday) tariffs to Sundays on all council-operated Pay & Display car parks.
C) Introduction of an extra tariff band in the scale of charges that applies in council car parks, enabling users to purchase parking for 10-14 hours (all day). This change will apply pro-rata across our current Low-Medium-High tariff scales. L
D) These extensions of the Pay & Display tariffs will apply to all council car parks that are charged under the Off-street Consolidated Order 2015 (as amended) (see appended schedule). a period of statutory consultation on proposals, consideration of the consultation responses and minor adjustments to the proposals that take into account the consultation outcomes.
