Purpose:

The Crewe BID ballot returned a ‘yes’ vote on 1 December 2023 and is due to commence on 1 April 2024. The Crewe BID Body is to be the Crewe BID Company Ltd, a not-for profit company limited by guarantee. The BID Proposer is now inviting organisations who will be liable to pay a BID levy, to propose a representative for the BID company board. They are seeking up to 12 Directors from a range of organisations across the BID area to put  forward nominees before 24 January 2024.

 

The Economy and Growth Committee at its meeting on 14 November 2023 resolved:

1          delegation be given to the Executive Director – Place, having regard to any advice given by the Monitoring Officer, and following consultation with the Chair of Economy and Growth Committee, to decide whether to put forward a Cheshire East Council representative for appointment onto the BID Board and if so, select the appropriate appointee and empower that appointee to make any decisions required on behalf of the Council; and

 

2          should the Council be invited to attend BID meetings in an advisory capacity, the Director of Economy and Growth shall agree the most appropriate officer representation and empower appropriate officer(s) to provide such advice to BID meetings as they consider necessary.

Decision:

1          That Cheshire East Council will not nominate any representative to be a Director of the Crewe BID Company Ltd. or Crewe BID Board Member.

 

2          That the Development and Regeneration Manager with responsibility for the regeneration of Crewe be asked to attend BID Board meetings as an observer only, with that officer having authority to designate a deputy or deputies as appropriate.
