Cheshire East has beautiful towns like Wilmslow, Congleton, Knutsford, Sandbach and more. These emeralds in Cheshire’s crown are key locations for active transport, as their size makes them perfect for active travel. Cheshire East is already widely known for its cycling, be that the trails in Macclesfield Forrest, the Tour of Britain flying though our town centres each year, or family routes and trails like the Biddulph Way. We have fantastic walking trails, rights of way and parklands. We have events such as the Bollington Bash and the Knutsford’s Penny Farthing Race. Our parklands and National Trust sites, such as Tatton, Little Morton Hall and Tegg’s Nose, are stunning to explore. In Macclesfield we have local beer, cheese, coffee and flowers delivered by bike. We have Olympians such as Dame Laura and Sir Jason Kenny and Dame Sarah Storey.
Cheshire East is a place where active travel – wheeling and walking – can, and does, thrive.
As the champion, a member of the cycling industry and someone who primarily uses both active travel and public transport, I want to use my experience, knowledge and connections to help our communities.
I will work on removing barriers, literal and otherwise. I plan to bring our community groups, our leaders and our businesses together, so we can strive forward. I want to work with our local businesses and organisations to make active travel work for them and their staff. And I hope to oversee the growth and improvement of our active travel network.
I hope you’ll work with me to make Cheshire East event better for wheeling and walking.
