It was moved and seconded that Councillor B Silvester be appointed as Chairman for the meeting.

To consider proposals to close Church Lawton Primary School.

Consideration was given to the proposal to close Church Lawton Primary School.

 

The Proposers and the Objectors attended the meeting and were questioned by representatives of the Governing Body and by Members of the Sub Committee.

 

RESOLVED

 

After very careful, full consideration of the all the information presented to the Committee and taking account of the statutory factors, which a Decision Maker must take into account when considering a published proposal, the Committee has, with regret, reached a unanimous decision to approve the proposal to close Church Lawton Primary School.

 

In reaching this decision the Committee recommended that a report be prepared and brought to Cabinet regarding the potential alternative community uses to which the School buildings could be put.

 

Full reasons for the decision would be sent to all interested parties within one week.

 

(The following item was moved and seconded once the Committee were at the decision making stage).

Exclusion Resolution

The Sub Committee will meet in private to consider the decision as a result in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 the press and public will be excluded from this meeting on the grounds further consideration of the matter will involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act in the paragraphs indicated:

 

Paragraph 4-Information relating to any consultations or negotiations or contemplated consultations or negotiations connection with any labour relations matter arising between the authority and employees of, or office holders under, the authority.

 

Paragraph 5-Information in respect of which a claim to legal professional privilege could be maintained in legal proceedings.

Minutes:

RESOLVED - That the press and public be excluded from the decision making part of the meeting pursuant to Section 100(A)4 of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that the debate may involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 4 and 5 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.
