Exclusion of the Press and Public

The report relating to the remaining item on the agenda has been withheld from public circulation and deposit pursuant to Section 100(B)(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that the matter may be determined with the press and public excluded.

 

The Cabinet Member may decide that the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item pursuant to Section 100(A)4 of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 and the public interest would not be served in publishing the information.

RESOLVED:

 

That the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item, pursuant to Section 100(A)4 of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 and the public interest would not be served in publishing this information.

EiC Limited - Childcare in Crewe

To consider and determine the Council’s proposed response to the impending loss of childcare provision at three establishments in the Crewe area.

 

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services was of the opinion that this matter constituted urgent business and could be dealt with at this meeting in accordance with Section 100(4)(b) of the Local Government Act 1972.  The reason for the urgency was as follows:

 

To consider and determine the Council’s response to the impending loss of childcare provision at three establishments in the Crewe area.

 

It was reported that the Chairman of the relevant Scrutiny Committee had been consulted and had waived the call-in provisions in relation to this decision.

 

The Cabinet Member considered the report of the Director of Children’s Services which gave details of the impending loss of childcare provision at three establishments in the Crewe area.

 

RESOLVED:

 

That the Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services approves the following:

 

(1)        the Council does not pursue the purchase of EiC Ltd;

 

(2)        the current procurement process to secure an alternative provider continue;

 

(3)        in the interim, the Council’s Children’s Centres on the three sites provide those services relating to the Free Early Education Entitlement and for the provision of the two year old pilot; and

 

(4)        Officers be authorised to carry out all necessary actions to implement the decisions above.
