22 Urgent Item - Shared Services ICT Staffing

To consider a joint report of the Borough Treasurer and Head of Assets (Cheshire East Council) and the Director of Resources (Cheshire West and Chester Council).

 

The Chairman of the Committee will not be present at the meeting and the Vice Chairman will, therefore, be in the Chair.  In accordance with Section 100B (4)(b) of the Local Government Act 1972 the Vice Chairman has agreed that by reason of special circumstances this report should be considered as a matter of urgent business as any delay will result in additional costs to the Councils of both Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester.

 In accordance with Section 100B (4)(b) of the Local Government Act 1972, and in the absence of the Chairman of the Committee, the Vice Chairman had agreed that by reason of special circumstances this report should be considered as a matter of urgent business as any delay would result in additional costs to the Council’s of both Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester.

 

Consideration was given to a joint report of the Borough Treasurer and Head of Assets (Cheshire East Council) and the Director of Resources (Cheshire West and Chester Council).  At the meeting it was reported that two additional applications had been received after the deadline date and it was proposed that they be considered further in the event of any of the approved applications subsequently being withdrawn

 

RESOLVED

For the reasons set out in the report: -

  1. That 55 applications for voluntary redundancy, (27 from Cheshire East Council and 28 from Cheshire West and Chester Council), be approved with effect from 30 September 2009.  
  2. That 1 of the above applications be deferred to 31 October 2009.
  3. That 8 of the above applications be deferred to 31 December 2009.
  4. That 1 of the above applications be deferred to 31 March 2009.
  5. That 7 of the applications for voluntary redundancy (3 from Cheshire East Council and 4 from Cheshire West and Chester Council) be refused.
  6. That the two late applications be considered further in the event of any of the approved applications being withdrawn, subject to management being satisfied that there would not be any adverse effect on service delivery, and that the resulting costs remain within the expected costs envelope.
