Minutes:

The report of the Head of Safer and Stronger Communities set out the findings from a review of parking in Nantwich town centre in respect of both on-street and off-street parking and control measures. The review had been carried out in response to a Cabinet decision earlier in the year that a review of all Cheshire East’s town centres be carried out.

The Cabinet Member for Environmental Services

RESOLVED

That the Nantwich Parking Review report be approved and officers be authorised to take steps to implement the recommendations it contains, in particular:

(i) subject to statutory consultation, and the consideration of any objections received, to amend the Off-Street Parking Places Order to enable the Council to sell contract parking permits on long stay car parks in the town;

(ii) to establish the costs of improvements to Snow Hill car park and proceed to formal quotations subject to availability of funds;

(iii) To carry out a further review of car park usage and any other changes in three months’ time, in light of the introduction of new tariffs;

(iv) to carry out preliminary studies of residents’ parking schemes where such schemes have been requested by local residents; and

(v) Highways officers to review access to the town square and propose appropriate changes.
