The Cabinet Member for Environmental Services considered a report proposing a variation to the scale of charges in the area of the former Borough of Crewe and Nantwich, entailing the removal of the 50p all day charge for Sunday parking.
The former Borough of Crewe and Nantwich Council had introduced a charge for Sunday parking in June 2002. Such a charge had not been applied by the former Macclesfield Borough Council. As a result, since the formation of the Cheshire East Borough Council, there had been a discrepancy in the charging policy in the areas of the two former Boroughs in respect of Sunday parking. Cheshire East Council now wished to rectify this discrepancy by not charging for parking anywhere in the Borough on a Sunday.
RESOLVED
That the Cabinet Member for Environmental Services
(1) approves a variation to the scale of charges payable on Sundays within the area of the former Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council from £0.50 to £0.00; and
(2) authorises the Borough Solicitor, or officer acting on his behalf, to publish a 'notice of variation' in relation to this change in accordance with section 35C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and regulation 25 of the Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure)(England and Wales) Regulations 1996.
