Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decisions:

The Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services was asked to authorise consultation with interested parties in respect of a proposal that with effect from 2012-2013 the Local Authority should align recommended term dates for schools with those set and applied by other Authorities in the “Learn Together Partnership” from 2010-2011, other than Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC), Wirral and Cheshire East Council. It was noted that CWAC was currently considering whether to undertake a similar consultation.

The following correction was made to the report:

Paragraph 10.9, second paragraph to read “....distribute a letter from the Director of Children and Families during March 2011”.

The following change was made to the report:

Paragraph 10.9, second paragraph, last sentence to read “……. report back with findings and a recommendation with a view to publishing the approved term dates during May 2011.”

RESOLVED:  That a consultation with the following stakeholders take place at the earliest opportunity with regard to the possible adoption by Cheshire East Council of standardised school term dates with effect from the 2012-13 school year, this pattern to be based on principles adopted by some other Local Authorities in the Learn Together Partnership:
