Lower traffic speeds where people live have benefits for us
all:
- less noise and pollution for residents
- safer environment for drivers, walkers and cyclists
- less stress on drivers, less fuel costs
- makes healthier travel options for children and adults going to
school and work more attractive (walking,
cycling, walking to train, walking to bus)
Nantwich has an underused bypass. Many of the lorries and commuter cars that now use the town as a cut through would use the bypass if a 20mph residential default speed was put in place.
Many towns across the country have introduced 20 mph speed limits
(without costly physical calming such a road humps).
We ask for the Council and its partners to work with national
support organisation 20s Plenty for us
( http://www.20splentyforus.org.uk)
to
put in place a low cost and effective scheme to benefit residents
and visitors
to the town.
A 20 mph limit would make a big contribution to making
Nantwich
a healthier, safer and more people friendly place to be.
Local councillors and residents of the town..try driving at 20
mph in
town and feel the difference - less stress driving, people around
you are safer. Less fuel costs.
By driving more sensitively in places where people live you can make a real and positive contribution to the quality of life for everyone in the town.
If you support a safer and more resident
friendly town pls sign the petition.
For more information on the reasons why 20mph speed limit where
people live benefits us all see weblink above.
